The threat of typhoid

Typhoid is caused by the Salmonella typhi bacteria which live in humans. It is the fourth most common cause of death in Pakistan with 70% of all cases recorded in Asia alone. In Pakistan, the key modes of transmission for this bacterium include ice cream, eating from unhygienic roadside cabins, drinking contaminated water and taking antibiotics 2 weeks before the onset of symptoms.
